Create Art Mini Art JournalPosted: January 28, 2014
Recently I created this mini art journal, from a Genuinely Jane Studios scroll book, to satisfy my smaller art journaling needs. I made the cover to have a vintage and gritty feel, with a background made from a freebie digital download I found at Stampington.com.
The paper is added with gel medium, and I stamped over the top using the cursive writing background stamp from Viva Las VegaStamps.
I adore this photo of the little girl in the early 1900’s, standing in front of a mercantile. She has a mixture of nervousness, sweetness and intelligence on her face, and it fascinated me. Every time I work with these vintage photos……I wonder….what was their life like?…and also….when and how did they die. I thought this little girl was so spectacular, that she needed a crown. I actually like how it looks all hand drawn….though I’m not much of a drawing gal.
I also created this page, using a woman with gorgeous hair and gown, and had her floating across the vintage page.
I learned a trick to having splashes of ink or paint across a wooden base (and not having it soak in and lose shape), is to spray fixative over the top, before splattering. It was a good trick…that helped this collagey page have the look I was after.
And, finally, I bunched together some library pockets and journal cards, added jump rings..and tada! I’m ready to create in my new journal!! 🙂
Actually, I think I’ll do that today!!
Have a lovely Tuesday, my friends. ❤
