Victorian Steampunk Time Machine {Blog Hop with Genuinely Jane Studios and Frog Dog Studios}

Welcome to the Frog Dog Studio and Genuinely Jane Studios Blog Hop, and to Sparkling Gnome Studios. I am Amy Lynne Lassiter, and I’m so glad to have you visiting my artsy spot on the interwebs! You should have arrived from Monica’s blog. This week our design teams are showcasing projects from the Frog Dog Studio January Mixed Media Kit, featuring an Exclusive Genuinely Jane Studio Telephone Booth Wood Album. Both teams are excited to share their kit projects and show you how they were inspired by Genuinely Jane products.

I’m super excited to share my project! Using the Telephone Booth Wood Album, I created a feminine Steampunk style “flying police box” (or time traveling Tardis from Dr. Who), that also doubles as a mini lamp shade. The cover is painted using the red Liquitex ink in the kit, mixed with an extreme sparkle silver acrylic paint, to create a light pink, and then covered with a light brown acrylic that gave it a distressed look. Over the top, I did some stamping, and of course, added plenty of Steampunk embellishments.

On each side, is a scene of a woman enjoying a trip through time, using a Victorian photo. The tissue in the kit made the perfect background, that smoothed on nicely using Gel Medium. All four pieces are joined together on the Tim Holtz dresser feet, and the edges are glued tightly.

The ladies time traveling machine glows from inside, and sits on top of a lamp with a night lite bulb. It’s really fun, and makes me wonder….is it bigger on the inside? The light that shines through the vintage paper covering the windows, keeps my imagination flowing.
